Devlog #4
So, it's been awhile since my last post, but rest assured i've been busy.
I'm getting closer to being done with the ent enemy, and it looks INCREDIBLE! (from my point of view, at least. Being an amateur pixel artist, I think all my sprites look good.) I ran into a couple coding bugs that I STILL can't figure out how to fix, so i've decided to completely re-do that entire section of code. I'm very optimistic about it working.
I've thought long and hard about it, and i've finally decided on what the rest of the level will look like (I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't describe it here.)
I was able to get collectables working, which is cool. I'm thinking i'll put a shop in near the end of the game, and depending on how many you collect depends on what cool upgrades you can get.
I've also put in an animated healthbar/heart container to make keeping track of health easier.
Other than that, i've squashed a few bugs, did a couple quality-of-life improvements, made a few more sprites, the works.
All I have left to do for level one is finish designing the level elements, fixing the ent's code, adding a death message, putting in checkpoints, adding sound effects, and making a boss. After I get it to an acceptable level of completion i'll release it, along with the rest of my sprites.
